Chocolate Malted Kissables and Caramel Chunk Cookies

Chocolate Malted Kissables and Caramel Chunk Cookies

1/2 cup shortening - I use spectrum
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
1/2 cup chocolate malt powder
1 cup Kissables
1 cup mini chocolate caramel pieces

Preheat oven to 350

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda and salt.

In a mixing bowl, cream the shortening and butter until fluffy. Add in the sugars and mix together.

Add the eggs, 1 at a time, and then add in the vanilla. Beat until incorporated. Add the malt powder and slowly mix until combined. Add the flour gradually and mix until just combined. Divide batter in half and gently fold in the Kissables in one half and the mini chocolate caramels in the other. Refrigerate dough for at least 1 hour.

Drop by tablespoons onto baking sheets lined with parchment or a silpat. Bake 8 to 12 minutes. The cookies will spread some and are thin. Cool on the baking sheets about 5 minutes before transferring to a rack to completely cool.

  1. hi joe,

did you use ovaltine or carnation chocolate malt powder? also, just wondering where you got the base recipe which you modified with the add-ins.

    they look very good!

  2. Hi Val!

I used the carnation brand. I used a couple basic ccc recipes that I messed around with that have been gathering dust - I will look and see if I can find out where I got them from originally!
